Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

Overview

TrimyMac is built on a simple principle: your Mac is yours, and so is your data. The app does not include a usage-analytics SDK, and it does not upload your file list or scan results. Disk analysis stays on your Mac.

This policy describes what the app and this website do and do not collect. Data leaves your Mac only in the cases named below: license checks with Lemon Squeezy, update checks against trimymac.com, and — on this website only — Google Analytics. We have kept this document as plain and direct as possible because we believe privacy policies should be readable, not weaponized legalese.

Information We Do Not Collect

TrimyMac collects absolutely none of the following:

Local Processing Only

All disk scanning, analysis, and cleanup operations performed by TrimyMac run entirely on your Mac using local system APIs provided by macOS. The app reads your file system to identify cache folders, log files, application support debris, and other categories of junk. It then presents results to you — the human — before deleting anything. Nothing it reads is ever transmitted to an external server, synced to the cloud, or made accessible to us or any third party.

Cleaning does not require an internet connection. The app does use the network for license activation, for a license re-check about every 7 days, and for update checks (see below). If those checks cannot reach the network, cleaning still runs and an already unlocked plan stays unlocked.

License Verification

When you purchase a Pro license (Annual or Lifetime), payment is processed by LemonSqueezy, our merchant of record. TrimyMac never touches your credit card number, billing address, or any payment instrument. LemonSqueezy issues a license key upon successful payment, and that key is the only artifact that reaches us or the app.

When you activate a license key inside TrimyMac, the app sends the key to LemonSqueezy's license activation API to confirm it is genuine and has not been revoked. The request contains the license key and this Mac's hostname, which Lemon Squeezy uses as the instance name to enforce per-device seat limits as described in our Terms of Service. It does not include your name, email address, or the contents of your disk. After a successful activation, the app stores the activation status locally in your Mac's Keychain.

The app stores the activation locally in the Keychain. About every 7 days it sends the stored license key to Lemon Squeezy's validate endpoint. If that request fails because the Mac is offline, the current plan stays unlocked. An annual license that Lemon Squeezy reports as expired drops to the free tier. Deactivating a license also contacts Lemon Squeezy, so you can free an activation slot.

Cookies and website analytics

This website, trimymac.com, loads Google Analytics (gtag.js, measurement ID G-21L7N4G3E4) on its pages, including this one. That measures visits to the website. It is not part of the TrimyMac app, and the app does not include Google Analytics.

The site does not use an advertising network or a retargeting pixel.

When you navigate to our store checkout (hosted and operated by LemonSqueezy), LemonSqueezy may set cookies that are strictly necessary for the checkout session to function — for example, to maintain your cart or process the payment securely. These cookies are scoped to the checkout session and are governed by LemonSqueezy's own privacy policy. We do not read, access, or benefit from these cookies outside the context of completing your purchase.

Third-Party Services

LemonSqueezy is the payment processor and merchant of record for TrimyMac. It handles financial transactions, issues license keys, and manages subscription billing for Annual plans. Their handling of payment data is subject to their own privacy policy, which you can review at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy. This website also loads Google Analytics, as described above.

While the app is open, it checks https://trimymac.com/downloads/appcast.xml for updates. That check does not include scan results. The app source does not include Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, Datadog, Segment, or Facebook Pixel.

Children's Privacy

TrimyMac is a utility application intended for general Mac users and is not directed at children under the age of 13. The website uses the same Google Analytics tag as the rest of the site and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Data Security

TrimyMac does not operate a database of scan results or accounts. License records are held by Lemon Squeezy. Website visit measurement is handled by Google Analytics. Your license key is stored locally on your Mac in the Keychain. The security of your Mac — including disk encryption via FileVault and keeping macOS up to date — is the primary protection for any locally stored data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or if legal requirements change. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. We will not make material changes that reduce your privacy protections without providing reasonable notice. Continued use of TrimyMac after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

We recommend checking this page periodically if you have concerns about privacy. The current version will always be available at trimymac.com/privacy/.
